Skin Cancer Symptom
![]() |
Unless you have been living under a rock the last few decades and maybe that would be a good thing, you know that skin cancer is on the rise and has been for a long time. One of the problems with this type of cancer is that the damage is done way before any signs appear.
Since sunburns are considered on of the majors causes of skin cancer because these sunburns cause real damage to the skin. They aren’t called burns for nothing. Burns damage one to two layers of skin depending on bad he burn is. Children and teens are definitely at risk because they love being outside either playing or basking in the sun. By the time they are twenty many have already sealed their fate. Due to hereditary or early sunburns at some time in their lives they will contract some form of skin cancer.
Not all moles are cancerous, which is a good thing because most people have moles. The problem arises when moles suddenly start to grow or when a mole appears out of no where and become quite large. The moles may even bleed.
At the first sign of a suspicious mole or a change in a mole, you should immediately make an appointment with a Dermatologist for a full body scan. He should first look at the suspicious lesion and then check the rest of your body. Particularly, if you have been a sun worshiper, you should have body checks even if you don’t seen anything strange. If your doctor thinks you might have a form of skin cancer, he will biopsy the lesion, send it to a lab, and then make surgical decisions when he has all of the information he needs,
Your doctor will inform you of the type skin cancer you have and will inform you of the correct treatment. The types of skin cancer are basal cell, squamous cell, and melanoma. Melanoma is the most dangerous skin cancer and can cause death. It is often fast growing and spells disaster if it isn’t found quickly and surgically removed.
Doctors know have agreed that no child under the age of six months should be exposed to the sun. Their skin is simply too delicate. After this age, very limited exposure is ok as long as there is no trace of sunburn which is particularly dangers in babies.
Even if you have never been in the sun. I mean if you have been very careful and have stayed away from the sun, you still could contract a skin cancer even the worst kind. Everyone from the sun worshipper to the sun avoider should do a self check every few months or have a partner to one for you in the hard to reach places.
Skin cancer is preventable. Use sunscreen, stay out of the sun, and avoid any sunburn. Even if you take these precautions, self-checks are a must. If you find anything the slightest suspicious, see a doctor and save your own life.
